Skateboarding Games – Full of Amusement

The term ‘Skateboarding’ is relatively modern. It is the act of riding and performing tricks with a skateboard, i.e. a board on wheels. An important trick of skateboarding, the Ollie, was developed in the late 1970s. The number of skateboarders is on the rise and it was estimated that there were around 18.5 million skateboarders in the world in 2002. With the advent of computers and Internet, you can find a large number of online and video skateboarding games.

Several websites help you to download interesting games of skateboarding which you can play on your PC. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 is the latest in the Tony Hawk series. This particular game is another excellent product of Activision. But for the first time, Activision is not taking care of the publishing duties on Pro Skater 4. This work is now handled by Aspyr media which is famous for its Mac versions of popular PC games. But the problem lies in the proper distribution of the game. As Aspyr dose not have a wide distribution network as Activision. So a skateboard lover may find it difficult to fetch it. Tony Hawk 4 has abolished the two-minute time limit option available in the previous versions. But it has made the higher levels in the game more difficult to clear, even for experts. You will find this version playing very fast as compared to its predecessors. A good gamepad is what you require for Tony Hawk 4, even better than Tony Hawk 3. It contains all type of tricks you want to see in a real skating game.

Xbox, which was Microsoft’s answer to Sony’s Playstation, was released in the year 2001. It was Microsoft’s first entry into the gaming console market and used to play games, CDs and DVDs. For Xbox owners, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 is an all-important Xbox game to possess. It features a number of professional skaters. You can customize your skater by choosing different faces, skin tones, heights, weights and hairstyles. You can also add different shirts, pants, shorts, shoes, hats, tattoos, helmets and lots of other accessories to your skater’s wardrobe. The Xbox version of Tony 3 has a hidden skater which was not there in other versions of the game. Some of the other features that make it truly sought-after game is its new user friendliness, improved graphics and a new level introduced in the game.

Play station 2 is Sony’s popular game console. Its first version was first launched in Europe in 1995 and upgraded to PS2 in 2000. The Playstation 3 is now available in the market. Tony Hawk’s Project 8 was released for all platforms like Xbox 360, Playstation 2, Playstation 3 and Playstation Portable. Graphically, the game looks roughly on all versions. But with PS3 available, it might be the Tony Hawk’s last run on PS2. Project 8 has made some strange control changes that make long time fans of this skateboarding series feel awkward. But, the core game is still pretty good. Lack of online mode, long loading times and the new combo meter timer are some of the negative points of this game.
